Hear me, ye Gods, who hold firmly the tiller of Sacred Wisdom,
Ye who kindle within men's souls a Fire that flames upward
And draws them toward Heavenly things, when they have abandoned
Their dark caves, and have cleansed themselves by your Holy Mysteries.
Hear me, ye Saviors, ye Great Ones! and from Holy Scriptures
May the Sacred Light shine forth upon me and scatter the shadows,
So that I may rightly understand both the Eternal God and mortal men;
So that no daemon may harm me, and drag my soul downward
Beneath the stream of forgetfulness, and thus ever hold me back, remote from the Blessed Ones -
My soul, tossed about by the vast horrifying waves of Becoming,
Threatening ever to sweep it down to unplumbed depths of destruction -
And let no torturing pain entangle me in the deceitful snares of life.
Hear me then, ye Gods, who are Leaders of Enlightened Wisdom,
And while I toil up the Path that leads on High
Reveal to me the hidden Truth contained in the Sacred Words.
